Bentley will have it’s race car inspired Continental GT3-R at Pebble beach during Monterey Auto Week. Pebble Beach has been a favorite spot for Bentley to show off many of its models in the past as the Monterey Auto Week brings in many of Bentley’s customers and some of the world’s most incredible cars.
“Pebble Beach is the perfect location for the debut of the rarest and most dynamic Continental GT, the GT3-R. It is a testament to the Bentley trademarks of luxury and performance and we’re excited to share it with the friends of Bentley during this gathering of fine automobiles,” said Christophe Georges, President and CEO, Bentley Motors, Inc.
Bentley will have their entire lineup on display and attendees will get to view a special treat as Bentley’s winning race car, the Continental GT3, will also be on display. Called “The Home of Bentley,” Bentley’s display at Pebble Beach will be the focal point for all Bentley guests during the week. The winning GT3 race car will be on display from Thursday through Sunday at The Home.
On Saturday, Dyson Racing Team Bentley will present the GT3 race car at The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion held at the Laguna Seca Raceway paddock. Currently competing in the North America Pirelli World Challenge series, the team has competed in a number of races in its first season and is currently preparing for the next race to be held at the Sonoma Grand Prix on Saturday, August 23. Both cars will again be displayed on the Bentley Concept Lawn Sunday at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance for the conclusion of Monterey Auto Week.
About the GT3-R
The Bentley Continental GT3-R is a 572 horsepower, two seat coupe, that can hit 60mph in just 3.6 seconds. That is record setting acceleration from a Continental GT or any Bentley for that matter. Bentley achieved this with a retuned version of their 4.0l twin turbo V8, shorter gearing, and weigh savings of 220lbs.
The GT3-R is only available in Glacier White with two-tone green graphics that trace the two prominent power lines to the side profile of the car. The cars feature a new carbon fiber front splitter, balanced by a new fixed rear wing also finished in carbon fiber. Distinct exterior features from the regular Continental GT, include gloss black headlamp bezels, matrix grille, window surrounds and bumper strips. The race inspired look is complemented by an all-new lightweight 21” wheel finished in gloss black. Even the 4.0l V8 get a special carbon fiber engine cover.
The interior features a two seat configuration trimmed in black leather (Bentley calls the color Beluga) and diamond quilted Alcantara with green accents. Instead of a rear seat, the GT3-R gets a nicely trimmed cargo area similar to what we’ve seen in the Supersports models in the past. All GT3-Rs will also have numbered treaplates in the entries to remind you of the limited status of your Bentley. The car is hand built in England and limited to 300 units, 99 of which will be available in the US, and only 4 of which will be available in Canada. Pricing for the GT3-R is $337,000 and deliveries should begin in the US in the first quarter of 2015.
Auctions of Vintage and Classic Cars
In addition to having some of the world’s most stunning cars to look at, Pebble Beach is also renowned for its auctions of collectible classic and vintage automobiles. If you’re in the market for vintage, the following three classic Bentleys are being auctioned by RM Auctions between Friday August 15th and Saturday August 16th.
