Bentley brought their entire lineup to China this week for the Beijing Auto Show. China represents Bentley’s second largest market after the U.S. and the company didn’t disappoint, saving a new special edition for the country.
The limited edition version of the redesigned Mulsanne will be known as the 2017 Mulsanne First Edition. Bentley will only build 50 total First Editions and the model is available across the Mulsanne lineup which includes the Mulsanne, the Mulsanne Speed and the all new Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase.
The First Edition distinguishes itself from the standard production Mulsanne with a custom laser etched Flying B ornament on the hood. Inside the car, First Edition motifs are included throughout. The rear seat picnic tables include a unique diametric overlay. They are accompanied with special tread plates and Union Jack emblems with overlayed “First Edition” stitched into the seats.
Bentley collaborated with Asprey of London on an optional and very unique silver vanity set which, if specified, is embedded in the rear picnic table. The set includes a vanity mirror, hair brush and comb.
Also on display at the show was a Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase First Edition with a very unique veneer. The ripple patterned Fulbeck veneer was sourced from a 350-year-old English walnut tree. Bentley wouldn’t say how much a sample of the tree costed, but they did boast that the rare and sought after wood went for a record price at auction. (Bentley is using Antique Ash for the veneers in other 49 First Editions.)
Also at the show was a Bentayga with one-off veneers, which Bentley named “Bentayga by Mulliner.” For the unique truck, Mulliner created an incredibly detailed veneer on the dash panel that uses 30 pieces of wood from 10 different veneers to create a mountainscape of the Rouge Bentayga range. Bentley said the Rouge Bentayga was part of the inspiration for the Bentayga’s name.
Flying Spur V8 S
Bentley also debuted the new Flying Spur V8S at the show. The quick sedan was previously announced but hadn’t been introduced in public yet. It is available for orders now and delivers will begin in the summer
